Our Philosophy

Marigold Children's Garden is a play-based, open-ended learning environment where children are nurtured, acknowledged, and loved. Our conscious, holistic childcare philosophy views all children as human beings worthy of respect and love.  Each family enrolled at Marigolds is considered part of our extended family.  We share meals, jam sessions, game nights, and more. Marigold Children's Garden is more than just a daycare--it's a community!

We spend a lot of time outside.  Children learn so much from nature, and from each other, when they are playing outdoors. When weather allows, We take our shoes off so we can feel the ground beneath our feet. When it's cold outside, we bundle up in snowsuits, hats, and waterproof gloves to explore what the winter season has to offer! Children at Marigold Children's Garden play in rain, snow, mud, and sun.

We believe that each child comes to the earth to fulfill a specific destiny and that our role as educarers and parents is to help guide them to the fulfillment of their life's purpose.  We can do this by providing ample time for free-play, when children discover themselves, cultivate their imagination, and find ways to collaborate with others.  We also engage in teacher-directed activities such as developmentally-appropriate crafts and games.

Our toys and activities are inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner (Waldorf), Maria Montessori, and Emmi Pikler.  We are also engaged in the movement towards self-directed education and follow the work of John Holt, Carol Black, and Peter Gray.

We provide organic, whole foods for nourishment. The majority of the food we serve the children is homemade with love, and provides their bodies and souls with the life forces they need to grow strong and healthy.

Part-time or full-time, your child's life will be enriched by spending time at Marigold Children's Garden!

Our Mission

Provide High-Quality

Child Care

We believe that children thrive in an environment which values their own uniqueness, while providing support and opportunities to grow emotionally, socially and creatively. By building on each child’s strengths, interests and curiosities, we guide each child to explore the world around them as well as develop new abilities and form close relationships.

Build community

It takes a village.

Parenting can be as challenging as it is rewarding.  At Marigold Children's Garden, you are not alone.  Families meet for playdates outside of daycare hours, at their homes as well as public playgrounds.  We share meals and celebrate festivals together. We are a community that is always here for each other!
